Unboxing Ballet

Junior Company, Het Nationale Ballet

The greatest Dutch ballet talents dance in new and classical repertoire

In Unboxing Ballet the twelve young top talents of the Dutch National Ballet’s Junior Company show their versatility. This exciting program combines classical ballet at the highest level with new work by contemporary choreographers. The evening begins with the ballet Fuse created by Charlotte Edmonds and Petipa’s virtuoso Paquita Suite in an adaptation by Rachel Beaujean. The last one was described by de Volkskrant as, ‘a Bengal firework of toe shoe variations’. Two pieces come out of the company’s Choreography Academy. Grand sujet of the National Ballet, Milena Sidorova, created the witty WITHDRAWN; Daniela Cardim presents What Got You Here inspired by Bill Bryson’s book about the origins of the world. Wubkje Kuindersma is a well-known figure in the dance scene of The Hague and she was invited again after her previous creation gained international acclaim. The evening comes to an exciting close with a new creation by Ernst Meisner, the passionate artistic coordinator of the Junior Company.
