Electronic music, a piano on which music by Schubert is played, four bodies, and a counter tenor are the equal protagonists in the two-part performance LIEDERDUETT by Compagnia Zappalà Danza, one of the most renowned dance companies in Italy. In a poetic balance between singing, music, and dance, choreographer Robert Zappalà was inspired by the story of Cain and Abel. In part one, Corpo a corpo, the conflict between the desire to stay and to leave is transformed to today’s civil wars, mass migration, and death. Mourning as building blocks of the world. But what if Cain hadn’t killed Abel? Counterpart Come le ali takes this utopian idea as the point of departure. Two bodies merge into a new organism, a symbiosis past the conflict where equality prevails. A two-part performance you take in through your synapses.
