Lecture Demonstration: Stephen Shropshire

For We are Nowhere Else but Here, Stephen Shropshire was inspired by the concept of coexistence in relation to three current subjects: otherness, perception and alienation. According to the literary critic and activist Edward Said, the greatest challenge of our time is coexistence, which means different values existing together in non-hierarchical relationships. This offered Shropshire a possible framework to put the subjects he wanted to treat in his performance into a broader social perspective. In this Lecture Demonstration, Shropshire will place the legacy of Said’s argument in a post historic context, and use it to reflect on the appreciation of the dance in the 21st century.

The Lecture Demonstration will be held in English.
