The Rotterdam dance company Xclusiv Artistry has for over 15 years been a booster of developments in urban dance, hip-hop-streetdance, breakdance and vogue. Working from an artistry rooted in a strong sense of authenticity, they create performances that matter. In our fast-paced and quickly changing world the pressure towards innovation, achievement, and belonging is greater than ever. In Behind The iMASQ, the second part of a series, the dancers talk candidly about (their) depression and show the struggle with powerlessness, emotions, stigmas, social pressure and (self)-denial. With dance, video, music, spoken word, and rap, they reveal their view of the world as it appears behind their masks. Behind The iMASQ is an appeal to take off our masks and to free ourselves of cultural, sexual, religious, and social conventions.
