The life of composer Franz Schubert was tragic in many respects and betrays the effects of the poor social conditions in the 19th century. Vienna was a swiftly growing metropolis surrounded by much turmoil. The Super Lecture zooms in on the role that Schubert and the activist group Die Unsinnsgeschellschaft played as catalyst of revolutionary social changes in the Vienna of those days. Choreographer Jasper van Luijk used this source of inspiration to take a closer look at our own chaotic and unpredictable times. Schubert’s compositions are taken apart and put back together again with engaging new works by cellist Antonis Pratsinakis. This brings The Nonsense Society in dialogue with today’s body. As an extra, the evening closes with the performance by Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten in which they openly go in search of Paradise.
